Through blades of grass The tiny armies do pass Millions of ants scant Gathering by their scent For a crumb they come And never just the one Unlike humans they care For each one is so aware Of its fellows in the pack That if anything attacks In defense, they fight back Keeping the queen intact Is evolutionary instinct A thriving hive can think As a unit with deep links I only wished they stayed Far from the food I made And away from the sink Guilt would remain unpaid From spraying all this raid -G
